Titans Get Back into Win Column, Defeat Nebraska 51-50

Cedar Rapids, IA - After a slow, defensive battle in the first half, the Cedar Rapids Titans (5-3) fired off a 31-point second half to get back into the win column as they defeated the Nebraska Danger (5-3) by a score of 51-50 in Cedar Rapids tonight.

Titans rookie signal caller Dylan Favre led the Cedar Rapids offense, completing 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards and four touchdowns. Favre spread the ball out, targeting six receivers throughout the matchup.

Reigning Indoor Football League MVP Jameel Sewell completed 18 of 29 passes for 190 yards. Sewell added 42 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Rookie running back Lyle McCombs led the Danger running attack, notching 20 yards and two touchdowns on six rushes.

Running back Waymon James led Cedar Rapids on the ground, making 21 rushes for 78 yards and two touchdowns. James added 77 kick return yards.

Cedar Rapids wide out Jared Elmore led the Titans receiving corps, hauling in three receptions for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Receivers Ryan Balentine (3 receptions - 36 yards) and Charles Watkins (1 reception - 18 yards) caught one touchdown each.

Veteran indoor receiving OJ Simpson anchored the Nebraska receiving corps, recorded nine receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Indoor rookie Thomas Mayo added the last receiving touchdown as he hauled in two receptions for 27 yards.

Defensively, linebacker Niko Sierra made eight stops while defensive Xzavie Jackson and Devon McKinney split the lone Titans sack of the night. Jackson added one forced fumble.

The Titans are on the road the next two weeks, heading to Wichita Falls next Friday, April 22 before heading to Billings on Saturday, April 30. Cedar Rapids return home Saturday, May 7 to take on the Tri-Cities Fever.
