Wichita, Kan. - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz entered tonight's game with the Wichita Stealth as the af2's leading scoring offense averaging 61.6 points per game, but the 5th ranked Stealth defense held the Yard Dawgz to 35 points and only 276 yards of total offense on their way to a 70-35 victory in front of 3,510 fans at the Kansas Coliseum. The Stealth put up 35 points in the second quarter compared to Oklahoma's 14. The 35 points was a season low for the Yard Dawgz.
Baby Ruth Real Deal Player of the Game Jonathan Beasley paced the Stealth. Beasley finished the night 19-of-25 for 269 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Yard Dawgz were stopped by the Stealth defense six times on the night either by downs or turnovers. The Stealth scored 21 consecutive points in the second quarter to go ahead 42-14 at the half.
The Stealth defense was lead by lineman Henry Bryant who notched all four Wichita sacks on the night, including one, which caused a fumble that was recovered in the end zone by Markevius Woods for a Stealth touchdown. Bryant earned the ADT Defensive Player of the Game award for his performance.
Stealth wide receiver/defensive back Marc Bacote earned the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game award on the night. Bacote finished the night with seven catches for 58 yards and two touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he added one tackle.
The Stealth improves to 7-3 and into a three-way tie atop the Southwest Division with Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Tulsa is in Wichita next week with the division lead up for grabs once again.
