Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League added four players to their roster including former Philadelphia Eagle wide receiver Sean Scott. Along with Scott, the Soul signed AFL free agents offensive/defensive lineman Dwayne Sabb and wide receiver/defensive back J’Sharlon Jones. The Soul also announced they traded offensive/defensive lineman Jeff Chase, obtained off of waivers by the Colorado Crush, to the Dallas Desperados for offensive/defensive lineman Patrick Scott.

Sean Scott (6-2, 200) was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2001 after a stellar career at Millersville (PA) University. Scott made the game-winning catch in the EaglesÂ’ 2001 preseason finale vs. the New York Jets, a 14-yard reception from quarterback A.J. Feeley, to garner Player of the Game honors. Scott spent the 2001 season as a member of the EaglesÂ’ practice squad. Scott has been resigned by the Eagles and participated in the 2002 and 2003 training camps.

A four-year letter winner, Scott earned All-PSAC honors all four years setting school records for longest reception, a 91-yard TD strike against state rival Bloomsburg as well as most receiving yards in a game as a sophomore (227). Scott also set the NCAA record for most touchdowns by a freshman with 13. Scott was an All-Delaware County and All-Philadelphia Catholic League selection at Archbishop Carroll HS in Radnor, PA.

Scott was also a participant in the SoulÂ’s open tryout at Temple University on November 15, 2003.

Sabb (6-4, 250) played 73 games for the New England Patriots from 1992-96 at linebacker, starting 24, and recorded 111 tackles. In 1997, Sabb signed as a free agent with the San Diego Chargers and in 1998 signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Bills. A member of the now defunct New York/New Jersey Hitmen of the XFL, Sabb joined the Arena Football League in 2001 as a member of the New Jersey Gladiators and recorded 8.5 tackles in his first year. Sabb spent the 2002 season with the Gladiators and was released by Las Vegas on February 11, 2003 and subsequently signed by the Buffalo Destroyers on April 3, 2003. Last season Sabb had five tackles in six games with the Destroyers, including one sack.

Jones (5-8, 185) saw action in 15 games last season with the Bakersfield Blitz of the af2 and led the team with four interceptions. He also had a team high 21 kick returns for 429 yards and one touchdown while returning nine missed field goals for 261 and one touchdown.

Patrick Scott (6-5, 273) was acquired through a trade with the Dallas Desperados for offensive/defensive lineman Jeff Chase. A five-year veteran of the AFL, Scott spent 1999 and 2000 with the Grand Rapids Rampage under current Philadelphia Soul head coach Michael Trigg. Scott spent the 2001 season with the Carolina Cobras of the AFL and saw action in four games, recording three tackles. Scott signed with the Dallas Desperados in 2002 as a free agent. In two seasons with the Desperados, Scott recorded 20 tackles, two sacks, four pass deflections and two forced fumbles.
