Second half surge not enough for Barracudas

Hidalgo, Texas - The RGV Barracudas scored five goals in the second half but it was not enough as the Barracudas fall at home by a final score of 12-7 against divisional foe Sonora Soles. The loss puts a heavy dent on the playoff aspirations for the Barracudas.

Barracudas (2-10) Midfielder Moises Gonzalez got the scoring started in the game as he took a pass from Rodrigo Tinoco to make it a 1-0. Sonora would respond with three goals of their own highlighted by Franck Tayou's first of six goals of the night.

Fernando Moreno trimmed the Soles lead to 4-2 as he opened the scoring the second quarter for the Barracudas. Diego Rodriguez contributed Sonora then padded its lead up to 6-2 which featured Tayou scoring his hat trick for the game.

In the third quarter, Sonora (4-6) added another goal to make it a 7-2 game via Tayou's fourth goal of the game. Barracudas forward Vicente Matias Vuoso scored for the first time in an RGV uniform off a Moreno pass trimming the deficit to 7-3. Antonio Manfut added to the scoring barrage to make it a 7-4 game off an Oscar Ventura pass. Rodriguez and Ventura added goals to make it a 7-6 game. Anibal Echeverria scored a hat trick for Sonora but it was the second goal that increased the Soles advantage to 8-6.

In the last quarter, the Soles scored four goals highlighted by the fifth and sixth goals of the night for Tayou and the third goal for Echeverria. The Barracudas scored a late extra-attacker goal by Moreno to make it a 12-7 final.

RGV goalie Arnoldo Pruneda took the loss pushing his record to 0-4-1 with nine saves on the night.
