Damian Jones and Scott Wood combined for Santa Cruz's first 12 points of the game before a 17-0 run from Canton gave the visitors a 13-point advantage. The Warriors were able to inhibit an extension of their deficit, scoring 6 points to enter the second frame down by ten.

Santa Cruz opened the second frame on a 10-3 run, coming within three points of Canton in the early minutes of the period.
