February 19, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
RiverCity Rage News Release

ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI: RiverCity Rage Team President Art Clarkson has stepped down from his position with the organization. His service to professional sports spans a period of over 35-years, working with a number of different organizations throughout the country. Clarkson's desire was to spend more time with his wife of 31-years at their home in Alabama. Assistant General Manager John Aebischer has been promoted to the position of General Manager and will assume Clarkson's duties.

"Art's sudden departure would normally be a difficult thing to overcome at this part of the offseason, but the transition to John should be absolutely transparent," said RiverCity owner Jeff Sprowls. "John knows the area, he knows the operation, and most importantly he knows the Rage. He is ready for the challenge to run the organization and we are lucky to have him. I'd also like to thank Art for his service to the Rage. His work was very valuable to getting us ready for the season."

Aebischer rejoined the Rage front office staff this season after taking two years off to pursue a career outside of professional sports. Aebischer has over eight years of professional sports experience under his belt after spending time with the Gateway Grizzlies, River City Rascals, and the Ohio Valley Redcoats all of the Frontier League. He is in his second stint with the team after serving as the Director of Operations for the Rage during the 2006 season. Aebischer will continue to assist the Rage sales staff as well as oversee the game-day operations this season.

"It's hard to replace a person with as much experience and knowledge as Art Clarkson has," said Aebischer. "I hope that in the time that we worked together that I am able to take the experiences and knowledge that he passed along to me and utilize it in order to have a successful 2009 season."

RiverCity will open its season with a home exhibition game against the Gateway Soul on Monday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. and is proud to present "Fill it Up Night" at the Family Arena, where all tickets for the game will be just $7.50. The Rage will open the regular season on the road on Saturday, March 21 against Saginaw and will return to St. Charles for their home opener in Week Three against the same Saginaw team on Saturday, April 4. A complete schedule is available online at www.ragefootball.com. Individual game tickets will go on sale on Monday, February 2.
