RiverCity Rage News Release
The River City Rage are proud to announce that All American Offensive Tackles Thaddeus Coleman, and Kurt Kutscher have been added to the team to play in the upcoming 2009 IFL season.
OT Thaddeus Coleman (6'8" 320lbs) played college football for Mississippi Valley State where he was a 2 time 1st team All-SWAC selection, and All American. Thaddeus just finished up the 2008 season with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL. A 2008 NFL draft prospect, Coleman has also spent time with the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals on the practice squad.
At Mississippi Valley State he led all SWAC linemen with 103 knockdowns in the 2007 season, and 83 knockdowns in the 2006 season. Head Coach Rik Richards had this to say, "We look for big things from Thaddeus and with the coaching of Offensive Line Coach Bennie Anderson (6 year NFL vet) we hope to get Thaddeus back on an NFL roster again soon.
OT Kurt Kutscher (6'7" 330) played his college football at Henderson State. Playing in what is recognized as one of the toughest Div II Conferences, (Gulf South Conference) Kutscher was a 2 time All American and 1st team All Conference selection. Kutscher played in the 2007 Cactus Bowl All Star game which is the Bowl game for the best small school talent in the nation, and was also a 2 time Gene Upshaw award finalist which is the award given annually to the best linemen in Div II.
In numerous draft publications both athletes who were 2008 draft eligible, ranked in the top 50 out of 165 OT available for the draft, and in the top 300 out of 2500 athletes available. "With the additions of Kurt and Thaddeus it gives us an anchor on each edge to build the Offense around," said Head Coach Rik Richards, and "it also gives us 2 young players that are hungry to prove they belong in the NFL again and should be great for our young, upstart league," Richards added.
