Lubbock Renegades News Release

LUBBOCK, TX: August 7, 2007 - The arenafootball2's Lubbock Renegades are excited to announce that quarterback Robert Kent has agreed to terms with the Canadian Football League's (CFL) Toronto Argonauts and has signed a practice roster agreement with the club. Kent joins the Argonauts less than two weeks after the Renegades had their inaugural season come to an end on July 28th. He was honored as the Renegades Offensive Back of the Year last week by his peers for his hard work demonstrated on the field. The second-year af2 pro out of Jackson State joined the Renegades via a trade after three games with the Alabama Steeldogs and gave the Renegades a true identity. Kent helped play a part in producing 100 touchdowns on the season (third in the af2) with 86 touchdown passes thrown (tied for fourth in the af2) and 14 ran into the endzone (tied for sixth in the af2). He completed 284 of 515 passes (55.1%) for a whopping 3997 yards (sixth in the af2) with just 16 interceptions thrown. His quarterback rating compiled to 107, but he was also a ground threat, as he finished with 236 rushing yards (8th in the af2) on 63 carries. Kent's average pass completion was for 13.6 yards (third best in the af2) and his average pass attempt resulted in an average of 7.8 yards (sixth in the af2). Dubbed "Superman," nobody questioned the name for the way he performed and especially on the road. In his final five road games, Kent averaged 348 passing yards per game and combined to complete 118 of 179 pass attempts and 1740 yards for 42 touchdowns and a 130.1qb rating during the span.

Time will tell if Kent can climb the depth chart ladder into an active roster spot with the 2-4 Argonauts, but their season thus far has been headlined by quarterback injuries. Former Kansas State standout Michael Bishop, veteran Damon Allen and former Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch are all injured and Argonauts head coach Pinball Clemons has yet to publicly decide if Mike McMahon or Rocky Butler, who signed to the practice squad last month, will start Friday as they host Saskatchewan.

Media members seeking additional information on Kent's status with the Toronto Argonauts may contact Eric Holmes with the Argonauts at 416-341-2733. As far as additional information in regards to the Renegades or Kent's history with the Renegades, please contact Chris Due with the Renegades at 806-549-4262.

The Renegades have concluded their inaugural 2007 campaign and are now preparing for the 2008 season. Season ticket and corporate sponsorship information for the 2008 is available by contacting the Renegades office at (806) 744-5858.
