Rome Renegades News Release
It's business as usual in the Forum and out at Grizzard Park this week. You'd never know the Rome Renegades were practicing for one of the biggest games of their professional football careers.
American Bowl II. Monday night at 7:00 in the Forum in Rome. The Canton Legends are coming to town with a 12-4 record but have been on a tear since signing Quarterback Kevin Mason right before the late May roster freeze.
Rome advanced to the American Bowl championship game with a resounding 63-14 win over the Raleigh Rebels Monday night while Canton punched their ticket last Thursday night with a 44-24 win over the Reading Express.
Several members of the Renegade squad are not strangers to championship warfare, having played in the Indoor Bowl last year in Kennewick Washington. That was an experience which Bo Bartik, Lew Thomas, Reggie Jiles, Gerald Gales, Jason Colts, and Courtney Stanley would just as soon forget as the Renegades lost to the Tri Cities Fever. They are hoping that Romans will duplicate the 'fever' which was displayed in Washington a year ago when the raucous Tri Cities fans raised such a din that it was hard to here signals called.
Both teams will be honored Sunday during a banquet at the Coosa County Club in Rome at 3:00. The Renegades will then be guests of honor at the Rome Speedway Sunday night, signing autographs for race fans at the fastest dirt speedway in America.
Monday night's American Bowl will kick off at 7:00 in the Forum in Rome, Tickets which are moving fast, are available through the Forum box office at 706-291-5281 or on line at www.forumevents.org.
