AIFL Announces Defensive Players and Lineman Of The Year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Reading (Pa.) Express defensive back Armar Watson has been named the American Indoor Football League's Northern Conference Defensive Player of The Year, it was announced Tuesday.

Watson helped the Express post a 12-2 record and a berth in the conference championship game. He is a co-holder of the league's single-game interception mark with four.

"Everything clicked this year," Watson said. "I just played hard and had focus and discipline."

Watson garnered the award by receiving the most votes for linebackers and defensive backs during the recent ProStars voting.

The lineman of the year will be released Wednesday, followed by lineman and special team on Thursday. Coach of the Year will be announced Friday.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Raleigh Rebels linebacker John Williamson has been named the American Indoor Football League's Southern Conference Defensive Player of The Year, it was announced Tuesday.

Williamson helped the Rebels post a 8-6 record and a berth in the conference championship game.

He garnered the award by receiving the most votes for linebackers and defensive backs during the recent ProStars voting.

The lineman of the year will be released Wednesday, followed by lineman and special team on Thursday. Coach of the Year will be announced Friday.

Vogel helped the Express post a 12-2 regular season mark and earn a berth in the conference championship game.

He garnered the honor by receiving the most votes among offensive and defensive linemen in the league's recent ProStars balloting.

The special teams player of the year will be announced Thursday and coach of the year Friday.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Rome (Ga.) defensive end John Bowman was named the American Indoor Football League's Southern Conference lineman of the year, it was announced today.

Now with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League, Bowman set the tone for the Renegades' 12-2 regualar season during his stint in Rome. The Renegades will play the Canton Legends in Monday's American Bowl against the Canton Legends.

Bowman garnered the honor by receiving the most votes among offensive and defensive linemen in the league's recent ProStars balloting.

The special teams player of the year will be announced Thursday and coach of the year Friday.
