Talk about living up to his quite high expectations.

Former Husker Tommy Armstrong, Jr. shined in his first game at quarterback for the Nebraska Danger in 2019. He scored a combined five touchdowns in a rout of the Bismarck Bucks Saturday night, 66-44.

Armstrong earned the first of his five touchdowns with his feet, rushing in from just three yards out for the game's first score. After that, he showcased his throwing ability, connecting on four touchdowns with two of them going to last year's standout receiver Eric Thomas.

His other two passing TD's covered plenty of ground, as he found Tevaris McCormick for a 48-yard touchdown late in the game. He also connected with Gregory Dent Jr. for a 30-yard strike in the game.

Armstrong kept most of his attack through the air for the season-opening win, throwing for 158 yards on just 8-of-12 passing, but he did show he can be a dual-threat when called upon, rushing for 23 yards on three carries, including his 3-yard TD run. More impressively, Bismarck wasn't able to even record a sack in the game - pointing to the poise of Armstrong in his first IFL game.

The Danger also saw a great rushing attack via the legs of Davonte Sapp-Lynch, who carried the ball 15 times, racking up 94 yards en route to three touchdowns. The team is back in action Friday, March 1 when they hit the road to take on the Green Bay Blizzard. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
