March 26, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

EL SEGUNDO - Guard Josh Magette posted the second triple-double of his career on Saturday at the Toyota Sports Center, but it came in a losing effort as the Los Angeles D-Fenders were taken down by the Santa Cruz Warriors, 134-124.

The point guard led Los Angeles (32-15) with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists on the day. Meanwhile, Travis Wear earned his eighth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Harper and Troy DeVries each scored 17 points for the home team, and Vander Blue finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Guard Speedy Smith scored 11 points to round out the team's six double-digit scorers.

Santa Cruz (29-19) was guided by a pair of 32-point performances from Phil Pressey and former D-Fenders guard Jabari Brown. Forward James Southerland tallied 17 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors as a total of six players scored in double figures.

The game got out to an explosive start as both teams combined for 80 points in the first frame. Magette began his career performance early by leading the home team with 10 points in the period. Even so, Santa Cruz took a 41-39 advantage into the second quarter. Once there, the Warriors built up a 10-point lead, but Harper scored 12 points in the period to spark a D-Fenders run, and both teams had scored 74 points by halftime.

The visitors led by nine points, 102-93, after the third quarter as Santa Cruz ended the period on a nine-point run, ending what had been a 93-93 tie. In the fourth, the D-Fenders enjoyed 11 points from Magette along with a series of scoring spurts, but it wasn't enough to overcome a combined 24 points from Pressey and Brown in the contest's final frame.

Overall, the Warriors owned the advantage in field goal percentage (.523-.447), rebounds (51-46) and steals (10-6). Both teams accounted for 13 turnovers, but Santa Cruz also gained an advantage on the defensive end with 10 total blocks.

Los Angeles will be back in action against the Reno Bighorns at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at the Reno Events Center.
