Mad Ants Continue as Undefeated with Win against the Nets

Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants (4-0) continue their undefeated streak with their victory over the Long Island Nets (1-5) at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Friday night. This marks the Mad Ants best start in franchise history.

Alex Poythress helped close out a 120-111 win, providing 25 points in the first half. The former Wildcat finished as the leading scorer, recording a double-double with 29 (12-16) points and 12 rebounds.

Joining Poythress in double-doubles, after being reassigned to the Mad Ants by the Pacers earlier that day was Rakeem Christmas with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Trey McKinney-Jones with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Long Island led the way until 9:24 in the first quarter and did not regain the lead for the rest of the game.

Fort Wayne's offense had their way putting up an astonishing 42 points. Nick Zeisloft gave the dagger with a buzzer beater to end the first quarter 42-30.

The Nets didn't go down without a fight. After being having a 33 point deficit in the third quarter, Carrick Felix, the Nets leading scorer with 19 points also recorded a buzzer beater to end the third bringing the score 96-80 Mad Ants. The nets came back to score 19 of the last 26 points and brought the Mad Ants lead to single digits (9) with 13.9 left in the game.

The Mad Ants will play again on Sunday vs the Iowa Energy. The game on November 25th will tipoff at 5 p.m. EST.
