Generals Announce Mitchel Doblado As New General Manager

EL PASO, TX. : The El Paso Generals announced on Wednesday, September 2 from a press conference located at the newly developed Buffalo Wild Wings in El Paso, that Mitchel Doblado has been named the new General Manager of the El Paso Generals. The El Paso, Texas native has recently served as Executive Director of Playground Connection, Inc. in El Paso since 2002 where his duties included managing all aspects of the growth and development of the fundraising program, including the development of the 501 non profit organization.

Before his time with Playground Connection, Inc., Doblado was the General Manager and Marketing Director for the El Paso Patriots Professional Soccer Club from 1993 to 2002. Doblado helped the Patriots organization raise an excess of $1.5 million for the organization and help increase attendance from an average of 75 fans per game to 3,800 per game. Additionally, Doblado planned, created and implemented marketing strategies for the organization including developing programs to created public awareness of professional soccer within the El Paso community.

BRENTS AND GENERALS COME TO TERMS FOR SECOND SEASON -

In association with front office announcements, the El Paso Generals additionally announced that the organization has come to terms with Head Coach Brian Brents to lead the Generals for a second season. Brents was named the Head Coach of the Generals back on October 23, 2008 after spending 2007 & 2008 serving as Head Coach of the Mississippi Mudcats of the AIFA. Brents led the Generals to a 12-2 overall record and the 2009 Lone Star Division Championship. Under his offensive direction, Coach Brents developed the Generals into one of the best offenses in the Indoor Football League. El Paso finished first in passing offense this past season and were second in points per game. The Generals won seven straight ball games to close out the '09 regular season leading into a second round playoff victory over the San Angelo Stampede Express. El Paso would fall short of The United Bowl after losing to the Billings Outlaws in the Intense Conference Championship Game, however Brents was recognized by his peers by being named the IFL Coach of the Year.

"I'm very excited to be coming back as Head Coach of the Generals for a second season. We had an incredible first year in El Paso and I am looking forward to finishing what we started in 2009 and hopefully developing a championship team in 2010." stated Brents.

In 2007, Brents led the Mississippi Mudcats to a 12-4 regular season record including an appearance in the AIFA South Conference Championship Game. In '08, Brents led Mississippi to a 12-1 record. The Crane, Texas native has compiled a 37-8 overall combined record. Brents has coached 24 All-Conference players and 16 All-Americans. He has had four players move on to the CFL, six players to the AFL and one player to the NFL during his esteemed coaching career.
