Former Minnesota Viking Edwin Reed joins Aces

Rapid City Flying Aces News Release

Rapid City, SD - Edwin Reed, who spent a little time in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, has been acquired by the Rapid City Flying Aces of the National Indoor Football League, head coach Dan Maciejczak announced today.

He will be one of about 40 Flying Aces players participating for a spot during training camp, which begins this upcoming Monday.

Reed (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) was signed as a wide receiver for the Vikings following a personal tryout he received. An NFL scout took interest in Reed because of the dominating numbers he was putting up with his Semi-Pro team, the Minneapolis Lumberjacks. Reed's first professional experience came with the Quad City Steamwheelers of the af2. With the Aces, Reed will be primarily a receiver, but may be called upon to play some defensive back if necessary, something he is already familiar with, having played both ways for the Steamwheelers earlier in his career.

"We've been talking with his agent for a couple of weeks now, we seen the film on him and liked what we saw, so we brought him in." said Maciejczak, who has a combined 25-3 record and two "Coach of the Year" awards since leaving Rapid City in 2004. "He's a great athlete and a physical receiver with good size. So we feel very fortunate to pick him up."

Flying Aces season tickets for the 2006 campaign, which begins on Mar. 11, are now on sale and can be purchased by calling (605) 716-ACES or online at www.gotmine.com.
