ROANOKE , Va , January 23, 2004- Mikki Moore scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to help the Roanoke Dazzle defeat the Columbus Riverdragons 80-69 Friday night at the Roanoke Civic Center. Adam Harrington led Columbus with 15 points.

The Dazzle shot 31 percent from the field in the first quarter; then held the Riverdragons to 28 percent shooting and ten points in the second to take a 38-33 lead going into the half.

“We really brought it together in the fourth quarter,” said Dazzle head coach Kent Davison. “Our guys stepped up and played good defense.”

The Riverdragons went on a five minute drought in the third, not scoring a single point between 7:20 and 2:35, allowing the Dazzle a sixteen point lead. Roanoke played strong defense in the fourth quarter, forcing Columbus to take tough shots.

“It was a real defensive effort on all ten of our guy’s part,” Dazzle head coach Kent Davison.. “We made them use a lot of the shot clock on each possession. This was by far the best defensive game we’ve played all year.”

The Dazzle and Riverdragons face off again tomorrow night at the Roanoke Civic Center. The game is set to tip off at 7:00 p.m.
