Nebraska Danger News Release
GRAND ISLAND, NE - For the second time in the team's first four games, Davonte Sapp-Lynch has earned the Nebraska Danger Player of the Week recognition, this time for a four touchdown game against the defending IFL champs in a game that went down to the final seconds.
In the end, the Barnstormers escaped with a 58-55 win Saturday night, but Sapp-Lynch made his presence felt after a quiet showing against Sioux Falls a few weeks ago. Sapp-Lynch ran early and often, totaling a team-high 77 yards on the ground in just eight carries. He tallied four touchdowns with three of them being lengthy.
He scorched the Iowa defense for a 23-yard and a 25-yard TD run in the second quarter to help pace the Danger. Then with just 1:47 left in the game, Sapp-Lynch ripped off another 25-yard TD run to put the Danger up 55-51 before the last second Barnstormer score to win it.
Sapp-Lynch also impressed on the receiving end of things, pulling in a team-high three receptions for 29 yards out of the backfield. He came up just one yard short of tying Eric Thomas for the most receiving yards in the game.
In a game that was dominated by the ground game, Sapp-Lynch proved he was up to the task. The Danger now sit at 1-3 on the year, but look to get back on track Saturday when they visit the Bismarck Bucks - the only team Nebraska has beaten so far in 2019. Kickoff for the game is set for 6:05 p.m.
