Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis - A tough loss tonight as the Bullfrogs were officially eliminated from the playoffs with a loss to the Lakeshore Chinooks. Dropping the game 5-3, the Bullfrogs fall two games behind the fourth and final playoff spot with only one game left to play. Bullfrogs second half record moves to 17-18 and their overall to 32-39.
It was the Chinooks that got the game rolling as they plated two runs in the bottom of the first. Zac Taylor (Houston) started inning with a single and stole second to put himself in scoring position for Joe Duncan (Eastern Illinois). A single to right field by Duncan gave the Chinooks a quick 1-0 lead. After a wild pitch and a groundball out, Matt Johnson (South Dakota State) hit the third single of the inning to score Duncan.
Now down by two runs, the Bullfrogs quickly responded. Back to back hits by Brad Hamilton (Kent State) and Brian Lees (Southeast Missouri State) started the inning. A passed ball on catcher Hayden Senger (Miami-OH) scored Hamilton and moved Lees to third. Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC) grounds out to bring home Lees as the Bullfrogs tie the game in the top of the second.
The Chinooks would retake the lead in the bottom of the third as Kurtis Brown (Richmond) hit a two out double to bring home Owen Miller (Illinois State). They would continue to extend their lead as they scored two runs off of three hits. James Bleming (Lehigh) led the inning off with a single. He stole second base and later scored on a Nick Horvath (Florida) single. Now with two outs, Tim Dalporto (Kent State) drove a double into deep center field to score Horvath. Through four innings, the Chinooks held a 5-2 lead.
The Bullfrogs would push across a run in the eighth on a RBI single by Quincy Nieporte (Florida State) as that would be the Bullfrogs final run on the game.
Offensively, the Bullfrogs were led by Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC) as the second baseman recorded two hits, scored a run, and had one RBI. Hamilton, Lees, and Austin Clemons (Louisville) picked up one hit.
