Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, Wis - The final regular season series begins tonight as the Bullfrogs face off against the Lakeshore Chinooks. After 70 games, these two teams are separated by one game for the fourth and final playoff spot. Both teams come into the ballgame dropping their last two games. The Chinooks fell twice to the Bombers while the Bullfrogs fell to the Rivets. The Bullfrogs second half record is now 17-17 and their overall is 32-38.

It was a pitching duel in last night ' s extra inning affair from Joannes Stadium. Harrisen Egly (Columbia) threw nine innings against the Rivets. In a no decision, Egly allowed two runs on nine hits and finished his start with five straight scoreless innings. His counterpart, Drake Robison (Iowa), went eight innings of two run baseball on his way to a NWL Pitcher of the Night honors.

The Rivets were able to come out on top as they plated two runs in the top of the tenth off of Bullfrogs closer BJ Sabol (Indiana). An error and a couple of bases loaded walks gave the Rivets their second lead of the game as the Bullfrogs could not muster any offense in the bottom of the tenth.

The playoff scenario is complicated as four teams are buying for the final sport. The Bullfrogs will make the playoffs if they win both games against the Chinooks and the Rivets lose one game to the Growlers. The Chinooks make the playoffs if they sweep the Bullfrogs or if they split the series, the Chinooks need the Rivets to lose one game.

The Bullfrogs will send Blake Rutherford (St. Norbert College) to the mound. This will be his second start in six appearances this season. In his first start against the Kingfish, Rutherford got the loss as he went five and a third innings while allowing three runs on eight hits and struck out six. He is 1-1 with a 3.64 ERA in 12.2 innings pitched this season.

Lakeshore ' s Nick Lackney (Minnesota) toes the rubber. This will be Lackney ' s second straight start against the Bullfrogs as he went five innings of no run baseball back on August 6th. On the year, Lackney is 2-2 with a 2.81 ERA in 11 appearances this season.

First pitch from Kapco Park is scheduled for 6:15 pm.
