Arkansas Ousts Corpus Christi from Playoffs

Little Rock, AR: The Corpus Christi Hammerheads season came to an end Saturday night in the first round of the IFL Playoffs as the Arkansas Diamond beat Corpus Christi for the third time this season by a final score of 44-29.
The Hammerheads fell into an early first quarter 14-6 hole following a kick return for a touchdown by Alvin Jackson. Corpus Christi would bounce back though following a Fred Wallace touchdown run, successful 2 point conversion and a touchdown pass from Wes Cooper to Brian Murph which made the score 21 -14 after thirty minutes of play.
The second half however would belong to the hometown Diamonds. Multiple Hammerhead penalties and two turnovers in the red zone sparked the Arkansas comeback allowing the Diamonds to outscore Corpus Christi 30 - 8 in the second half.
"While I'm disappointed in the loss, it gives me a direction to take to plug the holes we have to fill for next year when I start my off season recruiting in a couple of weeks", said Head Coach Stephen Fillmore. "We will be back in the post season in 2011 and we will have success".
Offensive Coordinator Schuyler Anderson added, "It was nice to back in the playoffs after missing the post season last year". "Now that we have a taste, it will make us hungry for more success next year".
As for the Diamonds, they have to wait until Monday to find out whom there next opponent will be and if the game will be at home or on the road. Arkansas is looking for the West Texas Roughnecks to pull of a first round upset of the second seeded Amarillo Venom to stay at home for the second round.
