Santa Cruz Warriors News Release

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors dropped their first road game of the 2015-16 season to the Los Angeles D-Fenders 104-101 on Saturday night at Toyota Sports Center.

Santa Cruz's Elliot Williams followed up last night's 23-point performance with another stellar night of scoring. Williams notched a game-high 31 points and 9 rebounds, as Darington Hobson recorded his second consecutive double-double, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The D-Fenders received solid performances from Manny Harris and Vander Blue who had 23 points apiece. Zach Andrews added 14 points for LA, while Andre Ingram and Justin Hawkins had 13 points each in the win over Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz got a hot start to edge Los Angeles 13-4 in the early minutes of the opening frame. The D-Fenders would push back on the Warriors to grab a seven point edge heading into the break.

Los Angeles would continue to increase their distance from the Warriors, leading by as many as 15 points early in the third quarter. The Warriors would launch a later third-quarter comeback, getting within 1 point of the D-Fenders behind Williams's scoring spree heading into the final frame.

The fourth-quarter saw a tightly-contested battle for the lead as the Warriors started the final frame with the edge behind a Hobson made lay-up. After six lead changes, Santa Cruz fell short of eclipsing the D-Fenders edge, as the hosts finished on top by 3 points.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will be back in action on Friday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. PST at home against the LA D-Fenders. Fans catch the game on the NBA D-League's YouTube channel, via www.santacruzbasketball.com.
