Wilmington, DE -- The Wilmington Blue Rocks have released their schedule for the 2016 season. For the first time since 2008 the team will begin its campaign in the friendly confines of Frawley Stadium. Opening Day is slated for Thursday, April 7 against the Potomac Nationals. That will be the first of a four-game series with Potomac, which will be followed by a three-game visit from Carolina. The Rocks will open their road slate on Thursday, April 14 at Potomac. In fact, Wilmington and the P-Nats meet in 15 of the season's first 24 games.

As always the Rocks will play 140 total games, with 70 coming at home. The Carolina League is continuing with an unbalanced schedule, which it debuted last season. In years past Wilmington played 20 games against each of their other seven Carolina League foes, with 10 coming at home and 10 on the road, but this season the Blue Crew will face only the Carolina Mudcats 10 times at home and 10 times on the road.

The Rocks play 40 total games against their two closest geographic rivals, the Nationals and the Frederick Keys. Wilmington will call the Keys its most common guest to Frawley Stadium, welcoming Frederick to the Riverfront 13 times in 2016. Meanwhile, Potomac's Pfitzner Stadium will be Wilmington's most recurrent road destination, with 15 games slated at the home of the P-Nats. The Blue Crew will face the Mudcats in 20 games, the Lynchburg Hillcats and Myrtle Beach Pelicans on 19 occasions each, the Salem Red Sox 17 times, and the Winston-Salem Dash in just 15 contests.

Wilmington will play 16 games at home in August, more than any other month in 2016. The Rocks' 11 home games in April are the fewest during any full month of the campaign. For the first time in more than 15 years, the Rocks will wrap up the season on the road, meaning no home regular season games during the month of September at Frawley Stadium.

The Blue Rocks, who drew 282,437 fans to Frawley Stadium in 2015 and averaged more than 4,100 patrons per game, will release game times and ticket information for the 2016 campaign later in the offseason. Fans should call 302-888-BLUE or visit BlueRocks.com for more information.
