Legends Stumble in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, CA, (Mar. 29, 2015) - The Texas Legends wrapped up a West coast road trip in Santa Cruz Sunday night for their final road game of the season. Jarrid Famous posted his eighth straight double-double but the Legends came up short 111-116 against the Warriors.
Texas got a hot start, taking their largest lead of the night of 14 points with 2:14 to play in the first. Eric Griffin's 11 points paired with four rebounds from Famous pushed the Legends to a nine-point advantage going into the second. The Legends' outside shooting went cold before the half, allowing Santa Cruz their first lead midway through the second. The Warriors set up an eight-point lead but Griffin and Mike James would combine to cut the gap to three at halftime.
Santa Cruz went up by nine to begin the third, but a 9-0 run by the Legends would give the visitors their last lead of the game. Mychel Thompson sunk a long ball to put the Warriors back in control, setting them up for a 91-84 lead heading into the final minutes. The Legends hit 4-9 from outside in the fourth while Santa Cruz went 0-3, but the Warriors out-rebounded Texas 16-7. The Legends' 27-25 push came up short as the Warriors took home the victory in the final matchup of the two teams.
Famous added the game's only double-double of 21 points, 13 rebounds while Griffin tallied a game-high 25 points for the Legends. Brandon Young dished out a game-high nine assists along with 15 points and four steals.
Taylor Griffin led the Warriors with 24 points, eight rebounds while Mychel Thompson added 22 points, four assists. Santa Cruz shot 56.1% on the night and out-rebounded the Legends 49-31.
The Legends return home to host the Idaho Stampede at 7pm on Wednesday at Chihuahua Court at Dr Pepper Arena. The game will be broadcast live on television--Texas 47--as well as radio--KVCE 1160am. For tickets or information visit www.TexLegends.com.
