Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania, Sunday, March 15, 2015 - The Atlanta Hawks have signed Austin Daye to a 10-day contract. Daye becomes the second BayHawks player to receive a GATORADE Call-Up this season and the 13th in franchise history.
Daye, who was acquired by Erie on February 16 via the waiver wire, appeared in ten games for the BayHawks and averaged 16.0 points per game. Daye's NBA Development League season high was 27 points at the Iowa Energy in a win. A night later, his tip-in at the buzzer tied the game at Sioux Falls where the BayHawks eventually went on to win in overtime.
Daye was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the 15th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. During his fourth season with Detroit, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and eventually spent time with the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors before eventually landing back in San Antonio in February of 2014. He played six minutes in the Spurs' playoff run en route to an NBA Championship. Daye was waived by the Spurs January 17.
Daye has appeared in 285 NBA games throughout his career and the Hawks are the fifth NBA team he will play for.
