Warriors Claim Down to the Wire Win

FRISCO, Texas - The Santa Cruz Warriors handed the Texas Legends a 110-107 loss Wednesday night in a contest that saw 17 lead changes and 9 ties.

Coming off of his first career triple-double, Elliot Williams followed up last night's performance with another stellar night of scoring. He notched a game-high 33 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals, marking the fourth time this season he has scored 30 or more points in a single game. Ognjen Kuzmic, currently with Santa Cruz on assignment from Golden State, recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. James Michael McAdoo tallied 20 points and 5 rebounds in the victory over the Legends.

Texas received a solid performance from Mike James who had a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. Eric Griffin had 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.

The opening frame would see Texas edge Santa Cruz after getting a hot start behind Renaldo Balkman and Mike James, who had 10 points first quarter points apiece.

Santa Cruz would jump out to regain the lead in the second period, paced by Kuzmic's nine second-quarter points. Holding the Legends to a 37% shooting average, the Warriors would enter the break leading by 7 points.

The next half of the game was constantly give and take by both teams, with both teams trading leads throughout the final half. The fourth quarter alone saw three lead changes and three ties, with the game ultimately decided by Taylor Griffin's made free throws.

Santa Cruz kept the edge on field goal percentage (54%-46%), assists (24-20), had more points in the paint (66-44), and more second chance points (12-10). Texas outrebounded Santa Cruz (44-41), had more steals (11-9), and had more fast break points (17-14).

The Santa Cruz Warriors will face the Reno Bighorns on Saturday night in the final game of a three-game road trip.
