Bighorns Aquire Four Players

RENO, NEV., Jan. 21, 2015- Today, the Reno Bighorns acquired Austin Witter from the NBA Development League available player pool and Cameron Ayers off of waivers. The Bighorns also completed a trade today with the Delaware 87ers, with Reno acquiring the player rights for Melvin Johnson III and the returning player rights to Elijah Pittman. Delaware received Joonas Caven in the trade.

Witter (6'8", 195), played collegiately at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (2009-13), where he averaged 6.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game his senior year. Witter was selected in the sixth round with the 14th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Development League Draft.

Witter was named to the All-MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Third Team in 2013, and received the MEAC Defensive Player of The Year award in 2013.

Ayers (6'5", 203) a guard from Bucknell averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds per game his senior year at Bucknell.

Ayers joined the Bighorns on Jan. 8 and has played in one game with the team. Ayers totaled nine points (.600 FG%, 3-4 FGM), and two rebounds in 15 minutes of play against Rio Grande Valley at the Showcase.

Johnson (6'6", 170) was selected by the Santa Cruz Warriors in the 2014 NBA Development League Draft before being traded to the Deleware 87ers. Johnson is averaging 11.1 points, and 2.1 rebounds in 21 games with the 87ers.

The Bighorns hit the road this week, to take-on the Santa Cruz Warriors on Friday, Jan. 23. Reno returns home Saturday, Jan. 24 to host the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
