EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired forward Alfred Aboya and have waived Jamario Moon, it was announced today by General Manager Nick Mazzella.
A four-year letterman at UCLA, Aboya started all 35 games his senior year, with averages of 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. UCLA advanced to the Final Four in each of his first three seasons with the Bruins and Aboya's class finished as the winningest class in UCLA history with 123 wins. The 6'9" forward appeared in five games with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2009 NBA Summer League before heading overseas. Between 2010 and 2013, Aboya played in 111 games in France, Japan, Venezuela and Turkey. In a 28-game stint with the Shiga Lakestars of Japan, Aboya averaged 8.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.
Aboya was drafted 30th overall in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, tallying 2.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 13.3 minutes in 14 games. This season, Aboya has appeared in 7 games for the Reno Bighorns, averaging 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 23.0 minutes per game.
