Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades announced today they're bringing back the hounds for hockey: Critters Pucks 'n' Paws 2: The Return of Spot will take place Saturday, November 22, when the Blades host the Swift Current Broncos at SaskTel Centre.

"It's one of the most common questions we've heard since the first time we 'raised the woof' last season," Blades president Steve Hogle said. "Dog owners who were at that game wanted to know as soon as the night was over and we've heard from a lot more pet owners ever since that time."

Last March 1, about 180 people came with their canine companions to the Blades first Critters Pucks 'n' Paws night, despite bone-chilling temperatures. Everyone is looking forward to milder temperatures and even more dogs next month.

"We're thrilled to be celebrating Critters 20th anniversary in Saskatoon this way," Critters spokesman Katie Hammel said. "The proceeds will be a huge boost to our food drive, which puts food into the mouths of pets in all the various shelters across the region."

One Saskatoon resident who can't wait for the night is Vivian Fraser, a long-time supporter of both the Blades and the SPCA. "It's a fun event and a wonderful way to raise money to help the animals in the shelters," she said.

Five dollars out of each $15 ticket will go to feeding the animals at shelters, including the SPCA, New Hope Dog Rescue, Size Small Dog Rescue and Street Cat Rescue.

The Blades and SaskTel Centre officials have been working closely to make the night better than ever, including creating a new and improved private entrance for the dogs and their owners, their own special party area and a concession stand which will feature specials on hot dogs and slush puppies.

Mayor Don Atcheson and his wife Mardele have committed to be at the event to demonstrate their support for the cause of taking care of neglected animals.

Tickets for Critters Pucks 'n' Paws 2: The Return of Spot are now on sale at all Critters locations and at the offices of the Saskatoon Blades.
