Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The actions of a Good Samaritan should never be overlooked. Six days after the goalie gear of Colorado Mammoth rookie Dillon Ward was stolen from outside his Denver residence, Dan Barnett returned the gear to its rightful owner. Barnett, a Denver native, said he purchased the bag of gear for $30 from a group that appeared homeless and quickly realized what it was.

"I don't think they even knew what it was for sure," said Barnett, "because they were just saying it was hockey equipment. Then they said they got it out of a garbage can."

Ward, who played in the West Division Semifinal on Saturday in Calgary in equipment lent to him by the Vancouver Stealth, was thrilled to get his pads back.

"Unbelievable! I can't thank you enough for this," Ward said to Barnett.

Playing in borrowed gear, Ward allowed a season-high 16 goals in the overtime loss to the Roughnecks.

On Tuesday, Ward was named to Team Canada. He will compete in the FIL World Lacrosse Championships at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. in July.
