OGDEN - The Ogden Raptors beat the Orem Owlz 7-3 when the game was called after a rain delay in the eighth inning Wednesday night at Lindquist Field.
The Raptors trailed heading into the bottom of the first after Mark Shannon started the game with a home run, and Michael Fish hit a run-scoring single. The Raptors took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Jesmuel Valentin started the game with a single to right. Adam Law, a day after going 5-for-5, hit a double down the left-field line, putting runners on second and third. As Alex Santana was batting, Nate Smith threw a wild pitch, allowing Valentin to score. Santana then delivered an RBI single to right. Two batters later, Joey Curletta hit a two-run homer to right, his fifth of the season, moving the Raptors ahead 4-2.
The Raptors added two more in the second. With one out, Law hit another double, giving him seven hits in seven at bats. Santana then reached on an error by Orem second baseman Kody Eaves that scored Law. Two batters later, Curletta had another big hit with a double to left, plating Santana and giving Ogden a 6-4 lead.
Jose De Leon earned his first win with the Raptors. The 24th-round pick pitched five innings and allowed three runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
James Baune added two perfect innings with two strikeouts for Ogden.
Michael Johnson recored one out and allowed a single before the rain washed out the rest of the game.
The Raptors and Owlz continue their four-game Thursday. Luis De Paula starts for Ogden against Orem's Garrett Nuss. Game starts at 7:00.
