Cortney Grixby Re-signs for 2014 Season

August 20, 2013 - Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) Lincoln Haymakers

Lincoln, NE - The Lincoln Haymakers continue the building process for the 2014 season resigning Defensive Back Cortney Grixby for 2014. Grixby, a former Husker, has been recognized for several seasons as one of the most electric playmakers in indoor football with last year being no exception. General Manager Brad Lindgren expressed his excitement with Grixby's return. "Cortney was a leader on our team last season and we are thrilled to have a player of his outstanding ability back on the team."

Grixby was resigned after a stellar season last year where he was awarded All-CPIFL team honors as a Defensive Back. Grixby was also voted Special Teams Player of the Week twice and Defensive Player of the Week once last season. Grixby led the Haymakers last season with 6 interceptions and played a huge role on special teams recording more kick return yards than any other Haymakers player. The Haymakers fans also voted Cortney Defensive Most Valuable Player on last season's team.

Grixby will return to James Kerwin's defensive secondary as the two are reunited now that Kerwin is coaching the Haymakers Defense. Grixby and Kerwin spent several seasons together with the Omaha Beef and will look to continue to build the Haymakers into a dominant defensive unit.

Lincoln will continue to resign players from last season's roster as well as rookies and other free agents before CPIFL rosters open up in November. After November, unsigned players from any roster become free agents. Keep up with all the Haymakers news at lincolnhaymakers.com and on the team's official Facebook and Twitter accounts.
