FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 18, 2013) - The Fort Myers Miracle blew out the Palm Beach Cardinals 15-6 on Tuesday at Hammond Stadium. The 15 runs are a season high for Fort Myers.

The Miracle offense was led by the duo of Kennys Vargas and Matt Koch, who combined to go 6 for 7 with two home runs, three doubles, three walks, five RBIs and eight runs scored.

Koch was a perfect 4 for 4. He needed a triple for the cycle, but his shot in the eighth inning down the right field line skipped into the Cardinals bullpen for a ground ruled double. Koch added his fourth home run of the year in the first.

Vargas erased an early 1-0 deficit with his 13th home run of the year, a two-run homer, in the first against Kyle Hald.

Vargas and Koch became the first Miracle players to score four runs in a game this season.

The Miracle led 3-2 on the power of back-to-back homers by Vargas and Koch in the first, and Koch added to the lead with a two-run double in the fourth. Mike Kvasnicka made it 6-2 with an RBI double of his own.

Fort Myers added three more in the fifth and three in the seventh to take a commanding 13-3 lead. Jhon Goncalves then bashed a two-run homer in the eighth, his second of the season, to put Fort Myers ahead 15-4. Goncalves was 3 for 4.

Matt Tomshaw (2-2) picked up the win. He scatted 10 hits and three runs over six innings.

Ryan O'Rourke allowed three runs in three innings and was credited with the save.

Stephen Piscotty went 4 for 5 with two home runs, two doubles and four RBIs in a losing effort for the Cardinals.

Hald gave up nine runs, eight earned, in four innings in the loss.

The Miracle (45-21) will go for the sweep against the Cardinals (28-39) on Wednesday at Hammond Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with the Square One Burgers and Bar pregame show on miraclebaseball.com starting at 6:45 p.m.
