Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans won their first Central Hockey League title last month, led by popular forward and former Colorado College product, Brian McMillin.

He led all players this post-season in goals with 12, in just 19 playoff games for Allen, winning the Most Valuable Player Award in just his second trip to the playoffs in five years.

"Milly (Brian McMillin) was clutch," said team mate Jarret Lukin, who has been involved in every post-season game the Americans have played. "He scored big goals for us and proved he is a big game player."

"We had a great group of guys this season that just happened to be the right mix to win a championship." said McMillin. "It's definitely a great honor to be voted MVP, but the biggest thing for me was winning my first championship. I honestly didn't feel any different in the post-season. I was just given the opportunity to produce. All season I was mainly a defensive forward, but when Adam Pineault went down I was put into a more offensive role and made sure I got to the front of the net where good things happen."

It was just three seasons ago that McMillin was the last player cut before the post-season roster was finalized, something he used as motivation to work harder, train better and come back a better hockey player.

He had his best regular season numbers as a pro last year, when he scored 16 goals and notched 27 assists for 43 points in 64 games.

The native of Roseau, Minnesota, was married last June to his longtime girlfriend and now wife Wendy. Like Brian, Wendy played hockey at both the high school and collegiate level. McMillin has been with the Americans since the 2010-2011 season.
