Road Warriors Raise More Than $54,000 for Greenville Charities in 2012-13

Greenville, SC: Today the Greenville Road Warriors announced the team donated more than $54,000 during the 2012-13 season to charitable causes and non-profit organizations in the Greater Greenville area.

The Road Warriors' charitable donations began with the October 5th pre-season game. All net ticket proceeds from the game were donated to the Children's Museum of the Upstate. In addition, Road Warriors' Owner Fred Festa, matched the sum with his own personal donation. Combined, the organization raised more than $30,000 for the Children's Museum of the Upstate in one night.

Throughout the season, the Road Warriors partnered with local charitable organizations and non-profits, such as the American Heart Association, Synnex Share the Magic Charities and Stop Hunger Now, to aid in their fundraising efforts. On Pink in the Rink Night and Warrior Appreciation Night, the Road Warriors wore specialty jerseys that were auctioned off after the game. Proceeds from the auctions were donated to the Mary Kay Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, RAMA Scholarship and Jennings Foundation.

"Becoming a part of the fabric of the Greenville community has been one of our goals from the day Mr. Festa purchased the team," said Road Warriors General Manager, Chris Lewis. "Giving back to the community is a priority for the organization. We are incredibly fortunate to have a fan base that is extremely generous and supportive of our efforts."

As the Road Warriors plan for the upcoming season, the team remains committed to having a positive impact around the Upstate. Since the end of the season, the Road Warriors have participated in a number of community events in the area such as the Kids Blast in Greer and the Greer Family Fun Fest. Last weekend, members of the team front office staff were on hand supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the Great Strides Greenville 5K Walk. The Road Warriors will be participating in the Weekend Aloft Celebration at Heritage Park in Simpsonville.
