Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS -- Veteran right-handed reliever Luis Ayala has been transferred to the Mississippi Braves from the Gwinnett Braves to continue his rehab assignment. Ayala did not allowed a run in two rehab appearances for the G-Braves. He's struck out three batters while giving up two hits in three innings.
Atlanta placed Ayala, 35, on the disabled list April 30 due to an anxiety disorder. He had posted a record of 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five outings for the Braves. Ayala was traded to Atlanta by the Orioles in exchange for lefty Chris Jones, who was with the M-Braves at the time, on April 10. He was 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA in two outings before leaving Baltimore.
A native of Mexico, Ayala entered the 2013 season with a 3.35 ERA in his Major League career. In his eight big-league seasons, Ayala is 36-46 with 19 saves. Atlanta is Ayala's 10th different organization.
The Mississippi roster has 25 active players, 5 disabled and 1 ML rehab.
