'Fish and 'Sharks Each Win One

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 8, 2013) - The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Camden Riversharks 4-1 in game one of Wednesday night's double header, while the Bluefish were defeated by the Riversharks 8-6 in game two at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Michael Colla (2-1) started game one for Bridgeport. He picked up his second win of the year by completing all seven innings and giving up one run on four hits. Colla also tied a Bluefish season high with eight strike-outs.

Alexis Gomez (2-3, R, 2 RBI) delivered a pair of doubles for the 'Fish. One knocked in Adam Greenberg and Danny Mayora while the other was followed by a single from Luis Lopez that scored Gomez from second.

Camden started Josh Walter (1-2). He pitched all six innings for the Riversharks giving up four runs on six hits.

Game two was a back and forth affair. Travis Minix got his first start since 2010 and went three and one third inning of four hit, two run ball. He was opposed by Ryan Kulik of Camden. Kulik pitched three and one third innings as well giving up five runs (four earned) while walking five.

Neither starter was involved in the decision as the game came down to the last inning. Bridgeport held a 5-1 lead after three innings. Camden scored one run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to tie the game.

Bridgeport reclaimed the lead as newly added outfielder, Karl Derbacher connected on a two-out single that scored Matt Spencer and went up 6-5. Camden wasted no time as Erik Lis singled to start the next inning and later scored to tie the game.

Edward Rodriguez (0-2) worked the sixth and seventh innings for Bridgeport; and it was in the seventh inning where he took the loss. It was Erik Lis doing the damage once more. This time he hit a two-out two run single that sealed Bridgeport's fate.

The win went to Ryan Quigley (1-0) as he pitched one and one third inning of one hit baseball. Quigley struck out four of the five batters that he faced.

The two teams will finish a four game set Thursday evening. Hunter Jones (0-2) will start for Bridgeport as he faces Mike McGuire (1-1) of Camden.
