Brevard County Manatees News Release
VIERA, Fla. - Ten different batters recorded at least one hit, with six batters notching multi-hit games in a 10-2 win for the Brevard County Manatees over the visiting Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday evening at Space Coast Stadium.
Brevard County (16-14) built on its two home runs from Saturday's game in Dunedin as they notched three more as part of an offensive outburst that saw several team season highs fall.
The ten runs matched the club's April 13 performance against Clearwater, while 17 hits bested the previous mark of 13. Those 17 hits included nine extra-base hits, which broke down to three home runs - matching Brevard's high in two other contests - a triple and five doubles. The Manatees had not recorded more than two doubles in a game before Sunday.
A five-run sixth inning saw six hits for the best offensive frame of the year for the 'Tees. Two of those hits accounted for all five runs, as Nick Ramirez and Cody Hawn each took Stone Crabs (8-21) pitcher Eliazer Suero deep. Earlier in the game, Greg Hopkins went yard to begin the third inning.
Following a 3-for-3 night with a walk on Saturday, John Dishon hit safely in each of his first three at-bats of the night to conclude a streak of seven straight plate appearances and six at bats in which he reached base.
Among the others with multiple hits were Ramirez, Hawn, Hopkins, T.J. Mittelstaedt and Brandon Macias, whose RBI triple put the Manatees' first run on the board in the second inning.
Jed Bradley (3-1, 3.04) earned the victory on the mound with six shutout innings as he matched a career-high seven strikeouts for the third time. For Charlotte, it was their tenth consecutive loss.
The Manatees will look to repeat Sunday's performance when they take on the Stone Crabs again on Monday night at 6:35 p.m.
Drew Gagnon (2-2, 5.59), who fired seven perfect frames his last time on the mound and has not allowed a run in his last 12.1 innings of work, will start for the 'Tees. He will be opposed by Ryan Carpenter (2-1, 2.48), who has been the ace of Charlotte's staff so far.
