The Oil Kings made it 2-0 when Henrik Samuelsson scored at the 11:17 mark of the second, which remained the score going into the third.
The Hawks got on the board 3:00 into the third period when Taylor Leier banged in a rebound on the doorstep to cut the Oil Kings' lead to 2-1, but just 47 seconds later Samuelsson scored his second of the game to put Edmonton back up by two, 3-1. Curtis Lazar then gave Edmonton a 4-1 lead at the 10:03 mark to round out the scoring.
