Sockers Announce Contract Extension Agreement with Three-Time MVP Kraig Chiles

The San Diego Sockers today announced the extension of three-time PASL MVP Kraig Chiles' contract, securing his services with the team through the 2014-15 season. Terms of the contract were not revealed as per team policy.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Kraig continue his career in San Diego," said Sockers general manager John Kentera, "As we pursue a fifth straight championship we have locked down a key cornerstone of this legendary indoor soccer franchise."
Chiles (Poway High, SDSU), who will celebrate his 29th birthday on May 14th, set new single-season records for goals (56) and points (72) as the Sockers finished 2012-13 with a 15-1 regular season record and eventually their fourth consecutive Professional Arena Soccer League championship.
Since joining the Sockers for their return to competitive action in 2009, Chiles has seen his goal and point totals rise each season. Both 2011-12 and 2012-13 were record setting seasons for Chiles, who established the league's single-season goals record during the Sockers' undefeated 2011-12 campaign (46 goals, 66 points), then bettered his own marks with 56 goals and 72 points in '12-13. Kraig is the leading goal scorer (163) and point scorer (215) in PASL history.
"Kraig's not only an MVP on the field but he's a tremendous asset to the Sockers and the San Diego soccer community," said Kentera, "His charitable work and involvement with the MCRD youth soccer program stand out. Really, he's exactly what we represent and want to represent to the San Diego community. This is a great day for San Diego."
The Sockers are the four-time defending champions of the Professional Arena Soccer League and have captured fourteen major indoor championships in franchise history. The team will resume their pursuit of "one for the thumb" and a fifth straight championship in November at the Valley View Casino Center.
