Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

With his Game 1 hat trick against Spokane, Ty Rattie reached 72 career playoff points, passing Randy Heath for the franchise's all-time lead. He added two assists in Game 2 to bring his total to 74 postseason points.

Rattie also owns the team record with 39 career postseason goals, which is also third in league history. He's just two goals behind Reg Leach (Flin Flon, 1967-70) for second in league history and eight behind Mark Pederson (Medicine Hat, 1983-88) for first.

Much of the Hawks' offense in the playoffs has come from the blueline, as four of the top-six playoff scorers among defensemen are Winterhawks. Derrick Pouliot leads all WHL defensemen with 13 points, which is already just four points shy of the 17 he had in 22 playoff games last season. Troy Rutkowski and Tyler Wotherspoon are tied for third among blueliners with seven points each, while Seth Jones is tied for sixth with six points.

The Hawks continue to lead the WHL in playoff attendance, averaging 8,786 fans through the five home games. The next closest team, Calgary, has averaged 7,155 while Edmonton has averaged 7,152.

Not only are the Hawks up 2-0 on Spokane, but all three of the other conference semifinal series are also 2-0. The other Western Conference matchup has Kamloops up 2-0 on Kelowna, while in the East, Edmonton holds that advantage over Medicine Hat, as does Calgary over Red Deer.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

Fans can watch Games 3 and 4 in Spokane this week at a number of viewing parties around town. There are two parties for fans 21 and over at The Sports Page in Beaverton and McGillacuddy's in NE Portland. There will also be all-ages parties at Brix Tavern in the Pearl District (Game 3 only), Game Time in Lake Oswego and Kenton Station in North Portland.
