Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, announced they will host an open tryout at CONSOL Energy Park on April 27th.

Interested players are encouraged to pre-register. To be eligible to play in the Frontier League for the 2013 season, players must not turn 27 years of age prior to January 1, 2013.

"We are excited about giving young men the opportunity to tryout for the Wild Things for the 2013 baseball season," said Wild Things Field Manager Bart Zeller. "Our coaching staff along with members of the current Wild Things team will be evaluating the talent that shows up for our tryout camp. We want all local talent who has graduated from college, been released from affiliated baseball or has a desire to make a professional club to sign up. If you have high school or college eligibility left, do not attend as it may affect your ability to continue your career in high school or college."

Players interested in participating can send a completed registration form and a check for $40.00 to The Wild Things. The tryout is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 a.m. on April 27. For those who wish to register the day of the tryout, the Wild Things will accept registrations beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Players participating in the tryout must wear turf shoes or molded cleats. No metal cleats will be allowed.

Each year the Frontier League hosts a tryout camp and draft; the 2012 league tryout was held at CONSOL Energy Park where 340 players participated! This year the 14 Frontier League teams will travel to GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois, home of the Gateway Grizzlies for the annual event on April 29th and 30th.

The Wild Things, who will host the 2013 Frontier League All Star Game in July, open the 2013 season on the road May 17th. The home opener is slated for Friday Maya 24th, when the Washington team will host the Southern Illinois Miners. Individual game day tickets go on sale April 13th at CONSOL Energy Park.
