Sugar Land Acquires Godwin from Lancaster

SUGAR LAND, TX - The Sugar Land Skeeters announced today that the club has acquired outfielder Adam Godwin from the Atlantic League Lancaster Barnstormers in exchange for the 2013 negotiating rights of former Skeeters Jason Lane, Jason Botts and Bubba Bell. The announcement was made by Skeeters Manager Gary Gaetti and Director of Operations Michael Kirk.

Godwin, a 2012 Atlantic League All-Star outfielder, played 125 games with Lancaster in 2012 as the club's primary centerfielder. He hit .327 (174x532) for the Barnstormers, collecting 27 doubles and 39 stolen bases on the season. A veteran of eight minor league seasons, Godwin owns a .293 (777x2653) career average with 249 RBI and 204 stolen bases in 760 games. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 11th round of the June 2005 Draft, the Alabama native enters his third season in the Atlantic League, having also played for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in 2011.

Skeeters Sign Roy Corcoran, Dominic Ramos for 2013

The Skeeters also announced today that the club has signed right-handed pitcher Roy Corcoran and returning infielder Dominic Ramos for the 2013 season.

Corcoran brings five years of Major League experience to the Skeeters club, having spent time with Montreal (2003-04), Washington (2006) and Seattle (2008-09). During that time, he combined for an 8-3 Major League record with a 4.17 ERA (51ER/110IP) in 82 appearances. Over 11 minor league seasons, the Louisiana native owns a 31-36 record with a 3.62 ERA (217ER/539.1IP), 92 saves and 504 strikeouts in 389 games (7 starts).

Ramos played 100 games with the Skeeters in 2012, hitting at a .257 clip (101x393) with 23 doubles and 12 home runs. Selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 17th round of the June 2005 Draft out of Texas State University, Ramos owns a career .275 average (814x2955) with 156 doubles and 272 RBI over eight minor league seasons.

Opening Day for the Sugar Land Skeeters is scheduled for Thursday, April 18 at Constellation Field against the 2012 Atlantic League Champion Long Island Ducks.
