Erie's Terrel Harris Signs with New Orleans Hornets

NEW YORK, March 8, 2013 - The New Orleans Hornets today signed Erie BayHawks guard Terrel Harris for the 21st GATORADE Call-Up of the 2012-13 NBA Development League season. Harris joins 118 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on NBA rosters.

Harris (6-5, 190, Oklahoma State) was acquired in a trade with Rio Grande Valley on March 5. Before the trade he played in 12 games this season, helping the Vipers go 9-3 while, averaging 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 29.8 minutes. On Jan. 23, he notched a double-double with 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go along with 15 rebounds in a 126-109 victory over the Texas Legends.

Harris signed with the Miami Heat before the 2011-12 season and played in 29 games over two seasons averaging 3.1 points and 1.0 assists in 12.0 minutes. Harris signed with the Rio Grande Valley after he was waived by Miami this past January. In 93 career NBA D-League games between Rio Grande Valley and the Maine Red Claws, Harris has averaged 10.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals.

Harris is expected to join the Hornets tomorrow when the team travels to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies.
