Milwaukee Wave News Release
The Milwaukee Wave suffered their first defeat in quite some time Sunday against Missouri. They looked to get back on track against Chicago, a team they have beaten five times this season. The team proved resilient as they came away with a victory over the Soul.
The Wave found success quickly into the contest as Tenzin Rampa placed a well-placed ball from Tom Oatley into net, giving them a 2-0 lead. The Wave's lead would grow to 4-0 on a score by Luan Oliveira. Nick Vorberg pitched a shutout in the quarter, and the Wave had a 4-0 advantage following one quarter of play.
Ian Bennett continued his strong play as he pushed the Wave's lead to 6-0 midway through the second quarter. Pablo got the Soul on the board at the five minute mark of the quarter, but it was the Wave who held a 6-2 advantage at the half.
The third quarter saw Bennett score once again to extend the Wave's lead to 8-2. However, the quarter belonged to Carlos "Chile" Farias, as within a 5 minute span he would complete a hat trick, and tie the game at 8-8 with a quarter to go.
For most of the fourth quarter both teams exhibited strong defense, but the Soul would be the first team to breakthrough when Carlos Munoz put the Soul on top for the first time 10-8. The Wave answered when Nick Perera snuck one past Chicago goalkeeper Jeff Richey to tie the game at 10-10. The Wave regained the lead on a two point goal by Hewerton. Bennett added an open net goal to get his second hat trick in as many games, pushing the Wave's lead to 15-10. Following the goal a scuffle broke out between the two teams, resulting in penalties by Milwaukee's Bennett and Chicago's Alex Megson, and the ejection of Chicago's Fred Degand. In the end the Wave triumphed over the Soul 15-10.
Milwaukee will continue their road trip when they take on the Baltimore Blast Saturday February 23rd at 6:35 p.m. The team's next home game is on Saturday March 2nd, at 6 p.m. against the Syracuse Silver Knights.
