Mammoth Announces New Community Initiative
January 31, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) - Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth and Kroenke Sports Charities announced today that they have jointly created "˜The Mammoth Family', a new community initiative spearheaded by Lisa Hamley, the wife of head coach Bob Hamley, that will work to better the lives of Coloradoans through targeted volunteerism.
"This is the first time in franchise history that our players and their families will work together on community-based elements," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "I applaud Lisa and her fellow volunteers on their desire to make a difference."
Lisa Hamley is joined in The Mammoth Family by significant others, as well as children and other immediate family members of Mammoth players, coaches and front-office staff.
"The great fans of the Mammoth have been so generous to our family," said Lisa Hamley. "Now it's our chance to give back."
The Mammoth Family has an "˜Adopt-a-Family' program that it implements every home game, hosting one or more families and then providing a private meet-and-greet with several players. On "˜Lacrosse Out Cancer' Night this Saturday, The Mammoth Family will lead the sales of "˜Lacrosse Out Cancer' wristbands and a silent auction on the concourse. Proceeds will be donated by Kroenke Sports Charities to local, non-profit cancer-related organizations.
Several other charitable causes of The Mammoth Family will be unveiled later this season.
The Mammoth squares off against the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, February 2 at 7pm MST on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center on "˜Lacrosse Out Cancer' Night. Single-game tickets start at just $10 and are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
