Shorebirds to Hold Casting Call for Gameday Employment on February 12

January 30, 2013 - South Atlantic League (SAL) Delmarva Shorebirds

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are holding a gameday employment "casting call" on Tuesday, February 12 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium from 3:00-8:00pm. Everyone interested in obtaining a gameday position during the 2013 baseball season must attend the casting call. Job seekers are encouraged to park in the main lot at the stadium and enter through the front double doors.

Ovations Food Services, the official food service company of the Shorebirds, will also be participating on February 12.

The reason behind the switch to a casting call to search for seasonal employees is that each worker at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, from ushers and ticket takers to parking attendants and flock/entertainers, are part of a cast that is putting on a show for fans during each game.

Job seekers will have the opportunity to fill out an application for gameday positions and learn more about the positions available. The Shorebirds will not be conducting one-on-one interviews during the casting call. Following the casting call, the Shorebirds will invite a select number of job seekers back to the stadium to interview for open positions. To expedite the process at the "casting call", we're encouraging job seekers to visit www.theshorebirds.com in advance to fill out an application.

"This year, we're putting a new twist on our application process with the same goal of hiring the best possible employees that are willing to make the gameday experience perfect for our fans," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters. "Similar to a show on Broadway, each game at Perdue Stadium is a production to entertain our crowd and that is why we're switching to a casting call instead of a traditional job fair."

The Shorebirds are looking for part-time "cast members" in the following roles: flock/entertainers, ushers, ticket office, ticket takers, parking attendants, amusements, souvenir store, press box and bat boys. For details about the specific job responsibilities for each position, please visit the Shorebirds official website, www.theshorebirds.com.

All successful candidates for the positions listed above must be trustworthy, outgoing, reliable and enthusiastic. All applicants also must be 16-years of age or older by opening day (April 4) to work for the Shorebirds.
