Zharkov Invited to Russian Selection Camp

Daniil Zharkov will be trying out for a spot on Russia's roster for the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships after impressing in his performance at the Subway Super Series in Guelph.

Zharkov has 7 goals and 3 assists in 27 games for the Bulls this season, including a multi-goal game in London on November 2nd.

Bringing a physical North American brand of intensity to the Russian approach, Zharkov joins high profile names in Nail Yakupov and Mikhail Grigorenko at the Russian Selection camp held in Novogorsk from December 7-20th.

With the tournament being held in Ufa, Russia this year, the Russians have high expectations after falling to Sweden in the gold medal game a year ago.

Spots will be tight up front as the Russians have a group of core returning forwards that join Yakupov and Grigorenko in Alex Khokhlachev, Nikita Kucherov, Yaroslav Kosov while returning defensemen Artem Sergeev, Mikhail Naumenkov  and  Nikita Nesterov bolster the blueline.

The Russians will play in Pool B with Canada, Slovakia, USA and Germany. They begin their tournament on December 26th against Slovakia.

Zharkov and the Bulls host the Peterborough Petes tonight at the Yardmen. Game time is 7:05pm.
