Join Mallards for Family Resources Teddy Bear Toss December 7November 27, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Quad City Mallards
Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to the December 7 game and toss them onto the ice after the Mallards' first goal of that contest. The teddy bears will then be collected from the ice and donated to Family Resources.
"The Teddy Bear Toss will bring smiles to the faces of children who have experienced trauma in their lives," said Cheryl Goodwin, president and CEO of Family Resources. "Whether they have been involved in domestic violence, neglect, divorce, or other traumatic events, we provide a safe place to heal and move forward. The generosity of the Quad City Mallards and their wonderful fans will bring a little happiness to kids and families that could really use it, and at just the right time of year."
Family Resources is a nonprofit organization that provides a safe place for children, women and families that have experienced trauma, offering a variety of services including domestic violence shelters, rape/sexual assault victim services, mental health services and 24-hour care and education for kids who have been abused, neglected, or suffer from emotional problems. The organization's website is www.famres.org.
"We're very excited to join with Family Resources for the Family Resources Teddy Bear Toss Presented by Mix 96 and WOC News Talk 1420. As an organization that provides such important services for so many families throughout the Quad Cities area, Family Resources is the perfect partner for what is annually one of our most popular events," said Mallards executive vice president Ryan Simmons. "Year after year Mallards fans show their tremendous generosity through their enthusiastic participation in the Teddy Bear Toss."
