Boston Breakers Join New Professional LeagueNovember 23, 2012 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - Boston Breakers
The new professional league will also include the Western New York Flash, Sky Blue FC, Chicago Red Stars, and one team each in Washington, D.C., Portland, Ore., Seattle, and Kansas City. Gulati said that 24 U.S. Women's National Team players, 16 players from Canada's National Team and 12 from the Mexican National Team will be a part of the league.
"Obviously this is fantastic news, not just for the players, but for all supporters of women's soccer and especially our loyal Boston Breakers fans," Breakers General Manager Lee Billiard said. "A lot of hard work has gone into making this league a reality and something that will be more sustainable so it is part of the women's soccer scene for a very long time. I ask Breakers fans and followers to support the team, the women's game, and the new league by purchasing season memberships and game day tickets. We want another year of selling out Dilboy Stadium to go along with what we hope will be a successful on-field campaign."
