"The Holidays are a difficult time for the blood supply," states Community Blood Bank Director Ken Versteeg. "Many people are busy with holiday activities and forget to take time to donate blood which puts a strain on the blood supply. People coming in to donate at a community blood drive like this one, just before a major holiday, is very important to help keep the local blood supply at adequate levels so we can respond to emergencies."
Donors must be at least 17 years old, 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an ID with you. An individual can donate blood safely every 56 days. Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of blood to Avera McKennan Hospital, Avera Heart Hospital Of South Dakota, V.A. Medical Center, and Sanford Health. Click Here for more information.
